Chapter 58

Selena's POV

We landed at the airport and a car awaited us. The driver held a sign with my aunt's name, helped with my suitcase, and ushered us into the backseat. Without a word, he pulled away from the airport.

Despite sleeping for almost six hours of the nine-hour flight, I yawned, feeling drowsy. After her hours of in-flight silence, my aunt finally spoke. "Relax, it'll take a while to get to the house."

I refrained from arguing or asking further questions. Dusk settled over the city, obscuring any chance of enjoying the view. It felt foreign, like I'd never been here before. My memories of this place were blurry, offering nothing familiar.

"Wake up, we're here," a distant voice said.

I slowly roused myself, rubbing my eyes. Turning, I saw my aunt exiting the car. We must have arrived. The realization sent a jolt of fear through me – fear of the unknown. What awaited me here?
