Elena’s POV

The air in my room felt suffocating, heavy with the remnants of the strained dinner conversation. I sat on the edge of an intricately carved armchair, my mind still reeling from the unsettling exchange that had unfolded at the table. Emotions swirled within me, a tempest of distress and confusion that clouded my thoughts.

A gentle knock disrupted the silence, and I hesitated before opening the door and letting Sophie inside.. She glided in, her presence a calming beacon amidst the turmoil that enveloped the room. Her serene aura offered an immediate sense of comfort.

"Hey, Elena," Sophie's voice, a soothing melody, echoed in the room. "I thought you might want someone to talk to."

I nodded, feeling a mix of relief and trepidation at the prospect of confiding in her. Sophie settled across from me, her gentle gaze a silent invitation to share without the need for explanations.

"I... I just couldn't handle it," my voice trembled, betraying the weight of the evening's events.
