Chapter 16: Helpless

Despite knowing it was impossible, I persisted in trying to push the door, so he could not enter. Nonetheless, with just one effort from the man, I entirely lost control of it and tumbled to the ground.

It was dark but the depth and his piercing gaze was unmistakable.

In order to feel no more resentment that was seething in my heart, I tried to stand up and completely ignore him. The memory of Helene begging for pleasure kept lingering in my mind. The way she clutched his arms as their hips moved with rythm— it was as if I was looking at the mirror and it made me disgust myself.

"What do you think you're doing?" he asked just to receive no answer from me.

The events of the day had left me extremely exhausted. Jaxon kept driving nails into the veins of my heart, and now they hurt.

I was sorry for my son since I didn't pick the best man to be his father.

As I was ready to lay down on the bed, he grabbed my arm again, but this time he didn't even give me a chance to catch my breath. I
