Chapter 25: A rustling grass

I stopped moving, as did Jaxon, and we both appeared oblivious to what Uriel said. Jaxon, however, was the first to regain his composure a split second later.

He hastily straightened his clothes and pants before opening the door while facing away from me. I, on the other hand, wrapped a quilt around my body before getting out of bed and looked for clothes.

As I got down, I almost tripped. My mind was racing for a reason as to where Morgan was when the door closed and Jaxon dashed out the door with Uriel. The fact that I didn't overhear any of their conversation but only their departure scared me the most.

Trembling, I grabbed a thin pair of pajamas with a moon motif because that was the first thing that caught my attention, didn't think twice about putting it on, and raced out of the room.

If Morgan was accompanied by numerous servants, how could he vanish? The sky was still high, the sun was still cruel, and there were undoubtedly numerous soldiers at each end of the territory's bord
