Chapter 10 : Theories-Gabriel

Gabriel's POV

Another morning.

Another missing person.

This time, the baker's son. The loudest attendee in the crowd outside of the bakery the other day. Next man in line from one of the founding families. The disappearances were getting out of hand. And no one seemed to have any answers.

Authorities were useless. As usual. Apparently, it wasn't just an American problem. Lucy and I went to confront Vivianna last night, but she was nowhere to be found. Every lead we found just added more questions.

The portrait of Vivianna, or whoever it was that looked like Vivianna embracing a younger woman who looked like Lucy didn't sit well with me. Even more unnerving was the fact that the painting reminded me a lot of Elizabeth Bathory's portraits.

Ageless and poignant. Perhaps both were paintings of murderous women. Fuck, thinking about it made my head hurt, dragging up old memories. I took a bite of my egg sandwich, sitting on the staircase of the lighthouse overlooking the bay.
