A persistent customer

I still couldn't give Jasper an answer as we sat across from each other.

"Can I at least have your number?"

"I don't have a phone."

"How come?"

"Not many of us can offer certain luxury in life."

"That isn't a luxury, it's a necessity." 

"Well, that's something I don't have the pleasure of experiencing."

"Let me help you then."

"Why? What is it about me?"

"I asked myself the day you left as well. You just seem like someone I can get to know."

"I'm sure that you are only feeling this way because of your break-up."

"We broke up 3 months ago. She cheated on me with someone."

"How do you know I won't do the same?"

"I never judge a person based on my past experiences. We all have to try."

"Well, based on my past, I would rather stay away from people. I don't even have friends."

"Is that a yes or a no?"

"Take it as you must, Jasper."
