Chapter 17 – Hard break-ups: Consequences of vacation affairs.
[Third POV]
Selby stood on the balcony looking at Lucas not knowing how to answer him, wondering who even told him this, she had only told Fiona about this, and Fiona hadn’t had any time alone with Lucas to tell him this, and she wouldn’t betray Selby at all.
“Who told you that?” Selby says before bursting out in laughter, “come on Lucas this is just fun why break the rules we agreed on?”
“But we didn’t really agree on any rules when this started, we just did,” Lucas reasoned.
“So? We both know this was casual and we will keep it that way, right?” Selby defended; but the soon she finished her sentence tears started rolling off her cheeks.
“Selly? Please be honest, are you in love with me?” Lucas asked firmly.
“What if I was? What are you going to do about it? Lucas?” Selby calmly says with tears flowing nonstop, “nothing, you can do nothing about it but discard me, so stop asking questions you don’t the answer to.”

I remember refusing to cry and begging for their mercy when they dropped me off a dangerous street. When my parents died, my aunt and uncle took over very quickly and, by the looks of it, it seemed our family was going to be okay. But that was only a facade, a mirage, an illusion, that only lasted for two months. The moment life insurance paid up, everything broke; they started telling people how my parents left no money for them to raise me and how unruly I was. Rumors, they spread rumors that way they wouldn’t be faulted for abandoning me all while eating my parents’ hard-earned money. How dare they even come close to me and act as if they cared.
