Getting Worse

Adine's face wrinkled in surprise. Not everyone knew the cell phone number she now had, except for a few people.

"Why don't you pick up?" Monica asked in surprise.

"There's no name on it," Adine whispered. "You know yourself; no one knows my number but a few people."

"If you don't pick it up, you won't know, Adine!" Monica looked furious with her best friend.

The beautiful woman with chubby cheeks didn't say much; she grabbed Adine's cell phone and swiped the green button with the cell phone logo.

"Yes, who?" Monica asked without preamble; Adine just stared furiously.

["Adine? Is this you? Why is your voice different?"]

Monica moved the cell phone away from her ear. She looked at her best friend while muttering softly.

"Who?" Adine frowned in surprise.

Monica answered, and she immediately handed the cell phone to its owner. Adine accepted it quickly.

"Sorry, who?" asked Adine.

["Adine?"]

Adine was surprised by the female voice on the other side. Only Monica, a female friend, knew her
