Chapter 67

Maggie’s back hit the tree. Her breath escaped her lungs, emptying them. She barely had time to refill her lungs with air when Phoenix came to stand in front of her.

Evgan and Percy had recovered their breath and rose to their feet, they started to transform to attack the goddess. She turned to them with a look of pure disdain.

“Have you learned nothing at all from the memories of your ancestors?” she asked them and with a flick of her finger sent them flying against another tree. This time she did not just stop there, she pinned them to the trees and took their voices, that way they could not cry out. Olivia and Jackson who remained on the floor were pinned there.

Maggie opened her eyes. She was panting heavily. The pain in her chest, a result of her sudden contact with the tree, spread throughout the rest of her body.

“You – you knew I was here?” Maggie whispered through the pain in her chest.
