Chapter 59

The fanfare resounded all over Eyrotia. The people were merry as they advanced towards the King’s Seat where the royals, the nobles, the gods and soldiers waited. Before them was the seer since he was the link connecting the people to the gods. In his hand he held his staff and on his tunic were the emblems of the goddesses of the earth and fertility for whom the festival was celebrated. As Eyrotians gathered to celebrate, allies of the kingdom, merchants and invited guests also gathered to partake in the blessings. The people took their places on the seats carved out of stone, the drummers, harpists, the cymbalists and the men blowing the horn made their music as they moved to the circular center space of the structure followed by the seer and seven priests from different temples to represent the gods in attendance, they stood in front of seven altars which had been built in preparation for the festival.
