Rhys waved Amira off at the end of the meeting. The elders were gathered around him still. Amira remembered that when she was in Rhys’s body, the elders would stay behind with her for another hour or two after the meeting. It was all nonsense and tiring, and now she was in her normal body, and she was more relieved to sneak away.

Not that it mattered if she stayed at this point anyway. The elders didn’t trust her. Ah well, she had some free time until her cousin would arrive. Although she had been in a blissful state with her mate, Amira didn’t forget the first potential lead about her father’s death. It was potentially there in the previous Alpha King’s journal.

“You look awfully chipper for someone who just had to walk into the wolves' den,” Bash commented as he fell into step beside her.

Amira smirked. “They’re old wolves. What’s so frightening about them?”

“True, true. Don’t let them get to you,” Bash replied, believing she might be putting on a façade.
