CHAPTER TWO.
Ron left the company by evening. He had to beat the night's heavy traffic and get home. He had a branch launch to attend. He drove home and when he parked his car in the garage, he went into the house. His mother was there when he went inside, she was sitting on one of the couches in the living room, reading a magazine and sipping a glass of what looked like cold water but it had lemon slices in it. She said it helps for weight loss. His mother, a rather Young looking woman with a banging body. Her brown eyes and blonde hair looked perfectly well on her. Though she looked young, she was not as young, she was quite old too. Just diets and vitamins working their magic on her. She kept the magazine on her thighs when she saw Ron enter the living room. He walked over to where she sat and they exchanged pleasantries, he kissed her cheeks."How was work?" The woman asked."It was just stressful mother. I need to go and rest before preparing for Felix's company branch launch." He replied her."Oh it's good you are attending the launch, because Lauren came here today and said she had to attend the launch too. It appears, your father told her you will be there too." She explained, with a smile on her face.He groaned loudly and His mood changed. His father would not just understand that he did not like the girl. His mother noticed the change in him."Oh don't be like that Ron, the girl likes you." She told him and he scoffed."I do not want her." He coldly said.He started walking away from his mother. He headed upstairs to his room. He was still going up when he heard her voice again."She is a nice girl though." His mother shouted. He rolled his eyes and continued his journey. Fuck her niceness, he was not going to like her. He walked all the way to his room and when he got inside the room, he fell on the neatly made bed. He groaned tiredly. He could feel the softness of the bed and welcoming sensation. His eyes were heavy with sleep and he fought his eyes to stay open but he was no match for nature. He did not even know when he closed his eyes and slept off.He woke up. He was sweating again and he was panting heavily. He had had the nightmare again. It was not just a nightmare, it was the blur images of that horrific night reliving itself in his dreams. The night he had lost her. He sat up on the bed, he was still wearing his suit. He buried his face in his palms for a while, wishing the nightmares could just go away and let him be. It had been eighteen years since that ugly incident. Everyone had forgotten about it, his mother and father had long forgotten about it and he wondered why that night kept haunting his dreams. He groaned angrily and stood up from the bed and walking to the closet. He looked at his wrist watch, it was 7:56 PM. He would have to be late for the launch. He walked into the closet and took off his suit and inner wear, flinging them into the laundry basket. He took a towel and wrapped it around his waist, leaving the closet for the bathroom. He got into the bathroom and hung the towel on the shower door and went into the shower naked. The turned the shower on and the cold water came rushing. He just stood there, allowing the cold and relaxing sensation to run over his body. He felt exhausted and tired. While he stood there, he made a mental note to see a doctor. He had to get pills that would help him sleep well. He finally took the soap and sponge and started scrubbing. He came out of the bathroom and went into the closet. He lotion his body and applied his deodorants then, he dressed up. It was going to be a big launch and he needed to look extremely good. He wore a white shirt and a black suit trouser with a black jacket. His gold wrist watch wrapped around his left wrist and he brushed up his black silky hair and beard. He got out of the closet when he was done and headed to the table at the corner of his room. His bottle of whisky sat there but the glass he used was changed. He poured the content of the bottle into the glass cup, just a little bit of it. Then he gulped down every drop of it. He felt the hot sensation traveling down his throat and he groaned loudly. He liked it. He needed the drink to stay focused. He grabbed his car keys on the bed where he was sleeping and rushed out of the room. He went to the living room and his mother was no longer there. He did not bother asking after her, she might just be in a beauty bath tub, having a beauty bath. He went into the garage and got into his car, he started the engine and drove out through the compound and he was soon out on the street. He parked his car in the buildings parking lot and got out of it, he locked the doors. He looked at his wrist watch, he had arrived only a few minutes late. He walked into the building and to where the launch was holding. A large room packed with different people, he knew some and he did not know some. He stood at the door, looking around for Felix. The man that the company had built his branch and did the interior decoration. He could not find Felix but he found her, Lauren. She was standing with a group of other young women and when he saw her, she turned towards the door too and their eyes met. She smiled at him but he only waved at her. He watched as she excused herself from the group and started walking closer to him.She was wearing a silky red gown that had her curves in full display. The little light sleeves of the dress did not help either as her shoulders were out and her breasts occasionally peeped out of the dress. She was wearing a light make-up, just a red lipstick and some eyeliner. Her blonde hair was styled up and her black heels looked elegant. She walked up to him with a big smile on her face and when she got to where he stood, she stopped."I thought you would never come." She spoke up.He looked into her brown eyes. How he hated those brown eyes. He did not speak, he did not want to. He only smiled at her and she smiled back."I did not bring my car, I took a cab to this place. I was hoping you would take me back home." She said again. The girl was trying so hard to start a conversation with him. He did not want to speak with her. And what did she mean by she did not bring her car? She would walk all the way to her house. Luckily, he spotted Felix and waved at him. The man waved back and walked over to where he stood with Lauren. He got to where he stood and the man brought out his hand for a shake, he took it."Mr Diego." The man called. His voice was high and he smelled of alcohol. He was drunk. They released the shake."Mr Felix." He called the man too."I am so glad you came. I almost thought you were going to miss it." The man said."I would never miss your launch for anything in the world." He said. The man laughed and thanked him for his support. Then the man noticed Lauren and turned to her."Who is this if I may ask?" He asked, directing the question at Lauren. She laughed and the man took her hand and placed a gentle kiss on it. Lauren giggled."I am Lauren Ed." Lauren said. The man smiled."Is it the Ed I know about? The technology family?" The man asked."Yes. And I am Ron's fiancée." She said and smiled.Ron twitched his face. It displeased him to be addressed as the girl's would be husband. Felix turned to Ron and congratulated him, telling him how lucky he was to be a part of such a rich and influential family. He only smiled and the man left the both of them standing at the door. Ron was bored and he wanted to make trouble. He turned to Lauren."Do you flirt with every man like that?" He asked. The girl turned to look at him swiftly, her face looked red with anger.CHAPTER THREE.She had a short temper and it only made it easy for Ron to pick a fight with her."What do you mean?" She asked."You were just flirting with Felix like a cheap whore." He said. She gasped. She had clearly not expected him to call her that. Her face darkened more. That was what he wanted."How dare you call me a whore?" She sparked at him. He did not say anything. He shoved his hands in his trouser pockets and stood straight, looking forward into the room. His plan was going fine and she walked away from him. Just how he wanted it. He went inside the room and got talking with some people he recognized. The room was filled with influential people, people of his class and he knew many of them. He talked and drank just alittle and when it was time for his speech, Felix did not forget to acknowledged the company that supplied the building materials and made the beautiful interior design. Ron waved at the crowd. They knew where to come now if they had any building matters a
CHAPTER FOUR.She woke up again but this time she was not sweating nor was she panting. The nightmares did not come. She sat up and stretched. She looked at the clock again, it was 7:45 AM. She rose from the bed and went out of her room. She was hungry and needed to eat. She walked to the kitchen and made cereal. She sat down at the dinning table and ate. She lived alone in the house. She had workers who occasionally come to clean and do the laundry. She finished the meal and went back to her room. She had a shower and got dressed, ready for her flight. She was wearing a black tight jeans and a loosed white shirt. Her long black hair was tied behind her in a ponytail.A knock sounded on the main door and she knew who it was, Delores. She walked to the door and when she opened it, it was indeed Delores. The girl was as ready for the flight as she was. They exchanged pleasantries and when she looked at her wrist watch, the time was 9:00 AM. They still had an hour to the flight and she g
CHAPTER FIVE.It was the ring of her phone that woke her up. She opened her eyes and rubbed them sleepily then she reached out for the phone from under her pillow, she got it and she looked at who was calling. It was a strange number. She looked at the time on the clock that sat on the drawer beside her bed, the time was 4:30AM. She looked back at her ringing phone and wondered who on earth would be calling her as early as that. Her thoughts went to Delores, maybe the girl got a new phone and wanted to tell her. She clicked on the green icon on her phone to answer the call and she brought it to her ear."I thought you were going to let it ring till it goes off." She recognized the voice on the other side. It was deep and masculine, like the voice of a god. It was his voice, Ron Diego. The memories of the previous night came rushing back to her head and she remembered that she gave him her number when they got talking and he asked. She had won the award last night__Yes, she won the aw
He tried to talk to her through out the time they were eating but she did not want to talk to him. It was either she didn't respond or she would respond coldly, he had to let her be. They ate dinner silently and when they were done, Sarah offered to pay the bill but Ron declined. After Ron paid the bill, they were on their way back to Sarah's apartment. The ride back to Sarah's apartment was a silent one and though Ron tried to start a conversation with Sarah, she did not respond to any of what he said. Ron was certain now that he had made a grieve mistake of telling her that he was betrothed. "See you again tomorrow?" They were infront of Sarah's apartment and they were still in the car."I'll be busy tomorrow and the next and the next too." Sarah replied him.He smiled. He knew what that answer meant, she was trying to avoid him now. For all he knew, she might not even be busy the next day. He took her hand in his, hers were small and felt weightless. He took her hand to his mouth
The sun was not too hot, just warm and good enough for sunbathing and that was what the two women were doing. Lauren and her mother were sunbathing behind the house by the swimming pool. They were having their mother-daughter moments. They just laid there in silence, enjoying the sun and tranquility that was at the backyard."So Lauren honey, how is it going with Ron? When are you two getting married?" Pamela, Lauren's mother asked. The girl turned to look at the woman. Pamela was still looking straight ahead, waiting for her answer. Lauren thought to lie to her mother, she didn't want to look like a failure. But she trashed the thought of lying, she was going to tell the woman the truth and seek advice from her too. "Oh mother, Ron is just proving difficult to handle. He would not go out on dates with me, always talking about how busy he is." Lauren finally spoke the truth. Her mother sighed."Oh honey, maybe he's been stressed. Let him take his time and then take him out on a date
WARNING: THIS CHAPTER IS 🔞 RATED.The noise of cutlery on ceramic plates was the only sound echoing in the large dinning area. The Diegos' and the Millers, they were having dinner together at the Miller family mansion. Mike Miller had informed Peter Diego about his wish for their children to get engaged alot earlier and because that was what Peter had wanted, he did oppose the idea. Peter knew that it was going to take alot of efforts to convince Ron to get engaged to Lauren and it did, it took the man three days to convince his son to get engaged to Lauren Miller and after three days, there they were, having an engagement dinner with the Miller family in their mansion. She was wearing a red dress and her hair was tied behind her in a ponytail and her perfect necklace and earrings hanged perfect on her. She was sitting beside her mother and he was sitting opposite her, beside his mother too. He was dressed in a grey suit. Her brown eyes kept darting on him and when their eyes met, s
His eyes flicked open and his breathing was heavy. He sat up on the bed and when he looked around, he knew that he was not in his house and neither was he in his room, he was in Sarah's room. He looked beside him and he could see Sarah on the bed, sleeping peacefully. He suddenly felt wet and when he touched his forehead he could feel the wetness, it was sweat. He had been dreaming again, the nightmares were haunting him again. A loud beep suddenly sounded in the room and Ron shuddered in fear but when he turned to look at the direction where the sound was coming from, it was only the alarm ringing. The alarm was placed on the other side if the bed where Sarah laid and he had to squint his eyes to look at the time, 4:32 AM. He hurriedly scrambled out of the bed and rushed to the bathroom. He had to hurry up and be ready for work as soon as possible because of the traffic. He hurriedly took his bath and when he came out if the bathroom, Sarah was awake and she was sitting on the bed.
He imagined her knit her brows together at the question and frown, her white face turning into a shade of red and he smiled inwardly. "We are going to announce our engagement today Ron, why else will I be here?" Her tone was high and though he had his eyes closed, he knew that she was fuming with anger. He wondered why the girl always got angry at the slightest provocation and he wondered if the both of them would last in holy matrimony."Oh." She gasped. "Don't tell me you forgot about this."He shrugged. "Maybe."She gasped again then silence. "Why are you always so distant towards me and everything that has to do with us, our relationship?" Her tone was calm and if he hadn't knew better, he would think she was crying. He did not respond to her and after some minutes of silence, he heard the door open and he opened his eyes to see who it was. It was Maria, she stood by the door and after she told them that it was time, she left. He stood up from his chair too and was about to wa
