Chapter 53

Dani POV (5 hours before the masked event)

I was in Mary-Ann’s place putting away some of the cookies i had made into the fridge when a knock came. I was sure that Mary-ann told me that she wasn’t expecting visitors, neither was my mother nor I.

“Robert?” I frowned as i tried to make sense as to why he was here. I opened the door after stepping away from the peep hole to stare at Robert who was grinning widely at me.

“Hey Dani.” he greeted with a wave, he didnt make any move to come closer to the door instead his eyes twinkled in excitment.

“Why are you here and I didn't mean that in a bad way, I am just surprised.” he glanced down at his watch and i wondered if he was actually in a hurry to go someplace.

“Oh come on, relax, will you? I am just here to run some emergency errands.” he said and i felt relieved.

“Oh that makes sense-” I replied as the sound of footsteps neared me.

“Who is there?” my mother said as she came around.
