Thirty Four

When did I go home? I was about to answer when I heard on the line Kyle’s murmur and the sound of the phone dropping and losing the call. I called him again.

I was waiting for him to answer the call, yet it disconnected. What happened to him?

My vision shifted to Zech's car that stopped, and he immediately got out. I expected someone to be with him, but his serious face gave me curiosity, and his jaw was clenching. Whatever the reason for that, I know that’s not good. When our eyes met, his eyes widened for a moment, and astonishment changed his eyes.

"Did you cry?" he asked as he got closer, his forehead furrowed. I noticed the side of his jaw that was sore, as well as his lower lip, and I looked down at his injured knuckles.

"What happened to you?"

“Your eyes are swollen. What happened?" his voice was full of worry and touched my cheek. “Did my grandparents call you again? What did they say?”
