Nathan just shook his head at his brother’s antics. He knew Noah was just trying to ease the tension. Because Brooke was looking red like a tomato, ready to combust at any time. “I was so happy, Brooke. I started observing you, trying to figure out everything about you because you were so closed up. But slowly I wormed my way through the walls that you’d built around yourself. We became friends and eventually best friends. I think punching Greg was the turning point for us. God babe, you have no idea how much I wanted to knock that guy out cold.”

“You punched Greg? Dude, you never told me that!” Noah exclaimed, once again butting in between.

“Do you ever shut up?” It was Brooke this time who spoke, and it left Noah surprised. Because it was like watching a movie with multiple climaxes. Brooke just wanted to listen to Nathan and understand what the man had been thinking.
