19. Scars of betrayal

"You need to be Careful, too, Adrian." Ezra said.

"I know. But I'm confused why Ed has to send a warning? He could have attacked without the warning! He knew I would be more careful after it. So why?" Adrian whispered as he looked at his friend.

"How can anyone know what he is thinking in his warped mind!? This is one of his mind games."

"Or this is a trick. He is very good at misdirection. I don't know what it is, but..." Adrian trailed off as he thought about Edward.

The knife wound at Adrian's back felt like it was hurting, again. Adrian felt the sharp slash of the knife. And then he could clearly see Edward’s mad eyes gleaming in the dark night.

Had Orion not overcome the dizziness and fought off the poison in Adrian's bloodstream, Adrian would have died that night six years ago. It was betrayal... the kind of betrayal one shouldn't go through.
