#Chapter289ADVENTUREI opened my eyes slowly, blinking a few times. I flexed my fingers, feeling the plush cushions of the sofa.“Brody, she’s awake,” Callie whispered.I turned my head and smiled weakly at Broke as he kneeled at my side. He returned the smile, before sighing heavily and pushing his fingers through his hair.“What happened?” I questioned.I remember finding Brody, feeling weak, and then passing out. I tried reaching Allie, I can still sense her and hear her softly snoring. Whatever we did must have taken it out of her.“You healed me, Alora.” He answered. “Did you know you had healing powers?”I raised my brows at him.“No, I didn’t know I had any powers. There hasn’t ever been a hybrid before, so who knows what else I could have.” I shrugged. “My parents told me I could possess some powers, but it was never certain.”I grabbed hold of the back of the sofa and pulled myself up. I swung my legs off the sofa and slouched back into the seat.
#Chapter290WARNINGBrody was in front of us before I could respond or even move. I attempted to pull him back, but he wouldn’t move. I appreciate the thought of him trying to protect us, but right now we stand more chance if I distract them and Brody and Callie get a head start.“Callie, honey, come here.” One of the women spoke, holding her hand out.I watched as Callie’s eyes went wide, and she gripped hold of Brody’s legs. My eyes darted between the woman, Brody and Callie. I could see the resemblance between them all. This is definitely their mother, Lenora.A growl spewed from my mouth before I could stop it. I don’t fully know the history between Lenora and my parents, but I know enough to know she tried ruining them both. She’s the reason Brody was injured, and I’d bet my life that she is one of the ones who wanted me captured. My eyes burned and I knew I was changing. My wolf and vampire side was coming forward. I still couldn’t fully sense Allie, she needed
#Chapter291AS HIGH AS BIRDSAfter I shifted and put on the clothes Brody gave me, I healed his chest. It wasn’t a deep injury, it would have healed perfectly on its own in time, but I liked the fact I could take the little pain he had away.I strolled behind Brody and Callie as we walked the streets. I didn’t know where we were. Because I had to keep my identity hidden, I never really travelled anywhere; although I’m so okay with staying in the country side. The smells surrounding the city were definitely questionable, and there was so much noise. Aside from the smells and noise, the city was beautiful. There has been so much that’s happened the last couple of days. I haven’t had a minute to actually let everything settle with me. Finding out I have not one but two powers was shocking. I know some, like the dark wolf, have powers, but I never thought I’d have anything. Who knows exactly what I can do, there’s never been a hybrid. There is no history, no lore, we’re none th
#Chapter292I AM HOME“Alora?”I sighed out in relief as I heard my dad’s voice. My eyes filled with tears as I heard him shout of Mum.“It’s me.”I took a deep breath, before letting it out slowly.“Where are you sweetheart? Are you safe?”“I’m on a jet. I’m coming home, Dad. There’s too much to explain over the phone, but I’m safe now.”“Alora, my baby.” Mum cried down the phone.I could just picture my dad sat at his desk with Mum standing beside him, leaning on Dad’s desk.“I have missed you both so much.” I whimpered.Tears were now streaming down my face. I held my hand over my mouth to muffle my sobs, trying not to wake Callie. I gripped the phone receiver and sucked in short breaths, trying to calm myself.“We never stopped searching for you, Lori.” Dad sighed, “We missed you so much.”I breathed deeply and looked down as Brody squeezed my hand. He had pushed his arm between the seats and was resting his hand on top of mine. I gave him a s
#Chapter293FOREVER IN YOUR DEBTI slowly stepped down the stairs, keeping tight hold of Callie. My eyes darted between everyone, unsure of who to look at. No matter who I looked at, my eyes kept landing on Corbon’s.As I reached the bottom step, I passed Callie to Brody. I tucked Callie’s hair behind her ear and smiled at her. I turned and glanced at my family. Corbon stood in a little in front with his arms outstretched and a huge smile on his face.I raced forward and into Corbon’s open arms. He wrapped his arms tightly around my back, holding me up as my knees buckled. Sobs racked through my body as I buried my head into his chest.Corbon took a deep breath. “I have missed you so much.” He breathed out in relief as he pulled away slightly.I wrapped my arms around him, brought him back to me, and sniffled.“Me too, Coby.”Mum and Dad circled us both and wrapped their arms around both of us. I breathed deeply, taking in their scents, letting a calmness wash o
#Chapter294SAFEWe had been driving for five minutes. I was enjoying watching the fields pass us by. There is nothing more I love than the countryside. The smell of the forest, even seeing the forest, is home to me.Callie rested her head on my shoulder, “your mummy is pretty.” She whispered.I glanced at my mum in the front of the car. She had a subtle smile on her face while she looked back at us.“Yeah, she is, Callie.” I agreed with a smile.I peered over at Brody. He was gazing out of the window, his leg was bouncing up and down, and he kept flexing his fingers on his knee.“Are you okay?” I whispered. It didn’t matter how quiet I was, my mum would certainly hear.“Just a little nervous is all. I’ll be okay.” Brody reassured, offering me a small smile.“I have four little boys waiting at home, excited to meet you, Callie.” Mum chirped.I peeked at Callie, who looked stunned as she gripped hold of my arm.I chuckled quietly and tapped her hand w
#Chapter295WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOUBrody’s POV.I followed King Alarix through the palace. It was huge, I don’t think I have ever seen something so grand. When I think of palaces, I imagine old fashion colour schemes, but this isn’t anything like it. The palace is modern and open planned, lots of space.“Just around this corner.” King Alarix mentioned over his shoulder.I nodded and smiled at him. My mind kept going back to the reunion between Alora and her family. Everything we went through getting out of that place, seeing them all together, was so worth it. I don’t think I have ever seen a mum and dad fawn so much over their children. It was heartwarming to witness. My dad died when I was young, so I don’t remember anything about him. Callie’s dad tried, but my mother wasn’t very maternal, so she complained whenever he showed Callie an ounce of love and affection. Our children need to grow up to be leaders, do not make them weak.Showing love and affection does
#Chapter296FIERY SPIRITBrody’s POV.His eyes went wide, then he cleared his throat and straightened himself out. “You know about our history?” He questioned, raising his brow and leaning forward.I nodded. “Yeah, my mother um, told me after I met Alora.”“And you still saved my daughter?” He questioned.“I’m not my mother. Alora is special, nothing like what they said hybrids were. I had to get her out of there.” I answered.A broad smile appeared on King Alarix’s face as he nodded and sat back with his arms folded.“The guy that pulled her away, who is he?” Corbon asked.I furrowed my brows. “I wasn’t there, so I don’t know what happened, but I assume you’re talking about Luca.” I replied.“And who is this Luca?" Corbon growled.“He’s a wolf, but I don’t know much about him. I can’t tell you anything else though, it’s not my place to say.” I sighed.“The hell you can’t.” Corbon growled. “Tell me about him.”“That’s enough, Corbon.” King Alarix
