Mira's POV" Mira, hurry up... I can hear a chopper near by. It must be here to save up. "Xen was carrying Braze on his back and Kian was hanging from the wall as he peered outside, trying to look for a way out. I looked hesitantly behind as the unconscious Watcher. The heat that I had created was too much for people like us. It must have taken a toll on him as well. It felt bad leaving him behind in that state. " Should we not get him out of here at least? " I asked with shy eyes because I knew it was already difficult trying to make our way out. " You got a death wish or what, Mira? I am doing him a favour, by not killing him. You want to give him a piggy back ride outside so he can take us all to his torture chambers? No thanks. Did you not hear anything that your uncle said? "It was difficult countering him but I found my way around anyways. We pulled him out of that rabbit hole and placed him at the mouth of the cave before we left. It was Kian's grandfather who was leadin
The next few days were not that eventful. Most of the kids in their class skipped school. They were given respite. Braze was missing and so was Kian and Betty.Mira didn't feel like texting or calling them. She casually attended class and went back to her room, ticking days off the calendar before she had to pack her bags and leave. She tried calling her mother several times but she didn't answer. She called the caterer in their area to ask if everything at home was alright but they said that they hadn't seen her mother for many days. She would have been worried to death at such news but in the light of recent events everything appeared normal. And then she received a mail -'Stay where you are or go anywhere else. Do whatever you have to do but do not come back home. It's no longer safe. I am sorry that I couldn't muster up the courage to tell you everything about your birth. The little time that I had with you , my baby girl, was too perfect. I didn't want to ruin your innocence
At Chemora-Kilian sprang out of that tub holding his chest and throat. Sitara rubbed his back as he coughed blood on the floor. The colour of the liquid in that tub had just changed to turquoise as Kilian reappeared. " Breathe... " Sitara instructed , hitting the back of his lungs. Kilian struggled for several minutes before finally letting out a very loud gasp and collapsing on the floor . Sitara carried him to bed.Put him down and then pulled his hands and legs up of it as well. She administered several injections after which Kilian's breath finally normalised and he slowly opened his eyes. " Thank you... " his voice was hoarse as he pressed Sitara's arm in appreciation. Sitara looked away and pretended to organize the syringes. " It's good to see you come back alive... " Then she turned at him and asked, " how did it go? "" They believe me. " Kilian smiled. " I finally got to see the girl for whom I had to leave my wife behind... my pregnant wife... I didn't even know th
Mira literally sprang out of the window as soon as the teacher left after the period. She sprinted straight to the office and surely in front of it stood Braze, Kian and Xen laughing and whispering. She breathed hard trying to restrain herself, hoping not to set the entire building ablaze. " What do you think you guys are doing? There's a Watcher inside the school. Perhaps more than one. "" Mira, relax. Meet my new cousin. " Braze pointed at Xen as he bowed. " Mira, we found everything out. He doesn't recall anything." Kian tried to explain. " How can you guys be so casual? Can this not be a trap? Men are so simple headed. "The three of them looked at her as if she had just stabbed their hearts with a dagger. Mira walked away after shoving her way from the middle of them. " Don't you think she is over reacting? " Xen asked. " Something is bothering her. " Kian put in. " There's no way she is going to tell me. " Braze smiled. A sad smile, full of pain. Kian gave his shoulde
" Let's go to Layla. She will give you some pills to relax. You need to sleep if you want to function properly. You can't just let another panic attack set in. "Robert hated doctors. It was a reflection of their unbothered attitude towards his problems. Most dismissed his physical ailments as mental issues and referred to psychologists. They could be of no help either because he could not share his secrets with them. Layla was an exception. She was a vet. She believed in divination, believed in the paranormal and most importantly, was always attentive to Robert's needs. Oh, I forgot to mention, she was also Quill's ex-girlfriend. Quill missed her terribly though she had already moved on. He always found issues with Robert just to go see her and spend a few more minutes watching her talk. They went to her hospital with prior notification so they had to wait. " My goodness. Robert! It has been quite long...Hasn't it?Come inside. " She called them inside her chamber the moment she arr
" What happened to her mother? Why didn't she tell me? " Braze was about to push Kian aside and rush out of the empty amphitheater but Kian pulled him back by his collar. " Probably the primary reason being that you might react like this... I shared this only because I wanted us to find a way out of this for her... not bombard her with more questions... she's disturbed.... we all are... we are still trying to adapt with our physiological changes... it surely will be difficult to handle emotional ones... "Kian was able to forcefully make Braze sit on a chair. " What are you suggesting? " he finally asked calming down a little bit. " She said she couldn't go back to her old home... " Kian began, " she is still a student. She needs to study. She is already in a school. Why would she need to go someplace else? Can't she stay here? Just like she is at the moment. "Their eyes met in a clash. " You want her to become a regular at Pamora High? Have you no clue about it's tuition? Oh, I
Braze's phone vibrated in his pocket as he angrily strutted out of the amphitheater. He pulled it out, very annoyed, because it won't stop buzzing even after trying to switch it off for a few times with his finger inside the pocket. His eyebrows narrowed as he saw the name. It was the lady vet. " Hello... " He immediately put his air pods on, thrusting the phone back inside his pocket again. " Oh, Hi Braze! How are you doing? " She asked. " All good. Thank you... and you? " " Good good. All good. Umm... I called to share very important news. I think I have been able to draw some similarities between your conditions and an old patient... I was just checking his blood behavior when it struck me how similar it was to yours. I can't give you all the details over the phone. Can you please come down to my office? " She asked. " Now. Right now? " Braze looked at his watch. It was way past school time. The campus was deserted. It was well past afternoon. Layla returned to her files. She
"Oh, I'm so sorry," Braze stammered, "Let me get you some ice or something."Layla, her lips swollen and bleeding, hesitated for a moment. "No, no, I'm fine," she replied, attempting to hide her discomfort. "It's just a small cut."Braze hurriedly fetched a tissue to help stem the bleeding from Layla's swollen lip. His hands were shook slightly as he gently dabbed at the cut."I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you," he said, still visibly flustered.Layla managed a weak smile despite the discomfort. "It's alright, accidents happen."But the sight or perhaps the smell of her blood was making him uncomfortable. His throat dried up. Or perhaps it was the fact that he was too close to her face, his breath bouncing off her face. The silence between them grew increasingly awkward and we know it wasn't for the first time. As Layla looked up at Braze, her eyes fluttered. She looked away and then looked back when he wasn't looking. Finally, raze mustered the courage to break the tensi
