Chapter 5

Orianne withdrew her hands from trying to choke him. She crossed her arms and stared down at Amos whose still looking sideways.

“I didn’t know that pointing gun at a woman was your kind of fun”, she started and Amos was still silent.

“Are you drunk?”, she asked as she tilted her head to catch Amos’ eyes but he just looked the other way.

Orianne was feeling how uncomfortable her knees were on the sand so she stood up and brushed the sand off. She also lifted her feet and shook them on air to remove the sand from her furry slippers.

“I don’t tolerate the behavior you just showed a while ago. Even the other guys were injured. Get up and let’s go, not unless you want to sleep here tonight, then that’s fine too”, Orianne said before turning her back and started walking away.

She heard some movement behind but then heard a thud after. She looked back and saw Amos was now sleeping on the sand, his body on its right side. After sighing deeply, she continued walking towards the hotel.

“I need a blanket and a first aid kit”, she said at one of the woman working under room service, who is pushing a cart. Orianne got blanket at the top and the woman handed her the first aid kit. She signaled the two bellboys to follow her. They went outside and saw how Amos is completely asleep on the sand with just his black shorts and black fitted shirt.

“Can you transfer that sun lounger over here?”, she asked the bellboys. They nodded and carried the sun lounger then dropped it beside where Amos was sleeping. They thought that they will transfer him there but Orianne thanked them and they left. She went down om her feet and lifted Amos’ shirt where she shot him.

It was just a graze on the skim so she cleaned and bandaged it quite quicker. She set the kit aside then proceeded to clean his bloody face. Because of her experience, she did the deed quite fast. His wounds were now covered in gauze.

“Can she carry him? He’s like twice her weight”, one of the bellboys asked as both of them looked back. They were shocked when Orianne was now sleeping on the sun lounger, with her blanket. Their almost erupted in laughter but they knew how sharp their young miss was so they just dismissed it and headed to the hotel.

Orianne removed the pins from her hair before lying comfortably on the sun lounger. She looked below her, where Amos is now snoring a little.

“Be careful not to inhale the sand particles, mister. And as a compensation, you will sleep there tonight”, she said and closed her eyes.

The morning came and Orianne could hear some murmurs and children laughing. She remembered sleeping on a sun lounger but she was sure that sun loungers don’t breath. Since she slept past two am, she was still sleepy. She felt that her legs were intertwined with someone and that her hands were holding something hard when the sun lounger is supposed to be soft.

“Hmmm…”

Orianne lifted her head and Amos’ face welcomed her. The audacity, she thought. She was laying on top of Amos and both are still under the blanket. She rose and tapped Amos’ cheeks until she couldn’t bear it and slapped him twice. He just groaned and she smelled the scent of liquor from him.

She looked around and basing how warm the sun is right now, it was still early morning. She faced Amos once again and pinched his nose. He grabbed her wrist, making her withdraw her hand. He let her hand go and covered his face from the sun rays.

Orianne got off him and was thankful that her robe didn’t even open up. She looked at Amos and sat beside him, still trying to wake herself up properly.

“Will you even enjoy your break with those wounds? And not to forget the guys you fought last night”, Orianne said as she crossed her legs and leaned on Amos’ back, whose sleeping on his left side.

“They’re going to be fine”, he briefly answered.

“About last night..”, she trailed off.

“That woman kept insisting that I should sleep with her, to ditch my fiance for a night. I got pissed so…”, he started explaining.

“I’m surprised that you’re taking this engagement seriously, mister. I wouldn’t mind you sleeping with other women. Men and their libido.”

“I’m doing it for myself, miss. I was taught to treat women right”, he said that earned a laugh from Orianne.

“So pointing a gun is treating a woman right? Even with an empty magazine, you still scared the woman off. Poor girl, just trying to get a man”, she said and chuckled.

“If only you were with me”, he mumbled but since they are that close, she still caught what he said.

“I don’t want to my future husband to feel chained while with me. I am not an old-fashioned kind of woman, mister. Just make sure that I won’t catch a glimpse of you, being with your woman”, she said when she spotted Andros going their way.

She hit Amos with her elbow.

“Andros is here”, she said and almost fell when Amos sat up, still covered in the blanket.

“We reserved a yacht for the troop, Mr. A. Would you be joining with the mistress or?”, Andros asked when he was in front of Orianne.

“No, I reserved another one”, Amos said in a defensive stance as he wrapped the blanket around Orianne and made her lean on his chest.

Andros just shook his head.

“Copy, Mr. A. Good to know that you’re sober”, he said as he turned around and waved his hand.

“You reserved another one? Since when?”, Orianne asked since she remembered that they were together most of the time yesterday before he got drunk.

“Just now”, he answered. “I believe that you have five yachts under the hotel. And since you’re the owner and I’m your fiance, reservation is not needed anymore.”

Orianne chuckled as she turned her head, meeting Amos’ chin.

“Hmm… okay, mister”, she said and kissed Amos’ chin, causing his arm around her to loosen. She stood up, holding the blanket around her and faced Amos who is still flushed.

“Ah, no good, mister. How much more if I…”  she said before bending down and grabbing her pins from the ground.

“You should have soup today. You passed out last, drunk and wasted”, she said and started walking towards the hotel. Amos stood up and jogged his way beside Orianne on his bare feet.

Both of them prepared for breakfast and were now ready. Orianne was wearing a v-neck Hawaiian-print dress while Amos didn’t seem to change since he’s still wearing an all-black outfit.

“Excuse me, mister. You stand beside me as my fiance, not behind, looking like my shadow”, she pointed out. Orianne kind of expected that Amos was not fond of colors so she ordered a beach shirt, with the same print as her dress.

“Here, wear this instead”, she said as she grabbed a paper bag from her back and throwing it at him. Amos wanted to tell her that nobody can order him around but her stare is intimidating him, which is a surprise even to himself.

He took off his shirt and Orianne almost whistled at the sight. Of course, he trained under worst conditions so a body like that is expected of him.

“Satisfied, miss?”, he asked after buttoning the shirt, but leaving two buttons unbuttoned. Orianne agreed and both of them went down for breakfast.

Since they were going to swim, they went to the store to buy their swimming outfits after breakfast. Orianne wanted them to have matching outfits and in the end, chose a two-piece rush guard for her and for Amos. He didn’t seem to mind since he didn’t shoe any negative reactions.

With their swimming outfits carried by Amos, they were now walking along the boardwalk.

“Roksana, don’t!”, the sudden shout caught both of their attention.

Behind them was a woman, charging straight to their direction with her face full of hatred. Orianne stopped on her tracks and faced the raging woman.

“Yes?”, she casually asked.

“That man! Behind you! Almost killed me yesterday!”, she shouted, making Orianne simply lift her finger to cover her right ear.

Amos stayed emotionless behind Orianne.

“How dare him point a gun at me? AN IVANOV!”, she shouted as her friends came running towards her.

“Oh, I apologize on his behalf”, Orianne said trying to sound apologetic. She didn’t know that behind her, Amos was now glaring at the woman in front.

“You are not even sincere! I will demand bo---”

Orianne didn’t know how to react. She just felt a whirl of wind that went past her.

“No! Let her go!”, the woman’s friends shouted.

Orianne couldn’t believe how fast Amos reacted. He was now strangling the woman on air as her feet tried to hit him.

“The Ivanovs? How disrespectful.” Amos dropped the woman on the ground as she coughed and tried catching her breath. He glared down at her.

“Don’t disrupt my vacation, woman. You’re even lucky after doing it twice”, he said and the woman’s friend just swallowed the bile in their throat. They helped their friend up and left.

When he turned around, he froze.

“You did it twice, too, mister. Deal with women in a nicer way, okay?”, Orianne said, while pointing a gun at Amos. The wind blew and Amos noticed that her dress had a slit and didn’t miss the strap around her thighs where the gun holster was.

“You’re going to shoot me twice, miss?”, he challenged, all serious.

Orianne returned the hand gun on the gun holster. She went beside Amos and grabbed his hand, as if what she did earlier didn’t happen.

“So when will our engagement be?”, she asked, completely changing the topic.
