CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT

Diana

THE FIRST THING Diana felt was a sharp headache that seemed to be trying to split her head in two. A pained groan left her lips and she heard someone gasp. 

The gasp was followed by words she couldn't comprehend in her disoriented state. As quiet as it was, to Diana, it sounded like it came from a thousand voices at once. 

She opened her mouth to shut the voice up but her throat felt like it had grits in it. She attempted to speak again but immediately went into a coughing fit. 

"Here." 

She felt a straw enter her lips and slowly slurped the cool liquid like it was her last. 

"Thank you," She asked, trying to identify the voice of who was in the room with her but her mind was still too disoriented to do so. 

She tried to peel her heavy lids open but failed to as they almost felt glued shut.
