Chapter 7

Anastasia's POV

“Daughter! My precious daughter!” my father bawled as he tried to go near me.

With just a few steps away from me, the werewolf with light brown hair kicked his knee making him fall to the ground.

“Do not make the girl uncomfortable, old hag” I heard him threateningly whisper to my father. He then smiled at me brightly, hiding his bloodied hands behind his back.

“Oh you would not know how worried I am about you,” he said as fake tears roll down his cheeks

         ‘Award-winning act’

“Worried… he was being protected by those other guys while the girl is left alone. Dude seriously think we will believe that?” the black-haired werewolf whispered to the light brown-haired one.

“Pfft” the man beside me snorted.

I redirected my attention to my father who continued to weep in front of me.

‘He might think that staying close to me would let him escape this situation as these wolves have been strangely friendly towards me’

As soon as I realized his intentions, my disgust for this dirtbag reached a higher level. My face distorted into a frown when I saw his face full of fake tears as he continually calls for my attention.

“Daughter? Really? Just a while ago, you don’t see our blood relation enough reason to not sacrifice me though” I said with contempt.

‘I might be risking my life by acting all arrogant but if ever I would survive this shit, it would definitely be without this son of a bitch’

The air became prickly. The already cold night wind seems to be colder as silence once again befalls this place.

My father already stopped acting and looked at me as if he did not expect me to do that. His eyes seem to imply that I put both of us in danger by acting up.

“One less evil would do good for the world, Father,

I told him which ignited his rage toward me.

He attempted to stand up and attack me which ultimately failed as the two werewolves beside him forcefully pushed him to the ground. I even saw a gash appearing in his forehead and blood dripping out of it but they don’t seem to loosen their grip.

“Ouch,” I mumbled as I felt a sudden pain in my waist.

“Sorry” the man beside me whispered as he loosen his grip on it.

As I feel the man beside me take deep breaths, I saw the expressions of the other wolves – full of contempt, disgust.

“Kill right?” the black werewolf coldly asked

“It is not up to us, unfortunately,” the light brown one replied calmly, or at least he tried to act calm.

As the black werewolf seems to be ready to raise hell and pour out reasons why killing my father would be the right choice, I felt the grip of the hand on my waist tighten a little – a gesture that seems to suggest that I have the power over this decision.

“No, no… I am just joking earlier my daughter. It is how we bond in my estate! I am sorry if you find it not entertaining enough but I will surely do better. You know father loves you, no?” my father said in his last attempt to tug at my heart.

“Don’t you need a sacrifice, Father? I hope the goddess would be satisfied with you” I coldly said.

The werewolves beside him both chuckled and yanked my father’s body toward the altar. The man beside me then tugged me closer to him, probably to comfort me.

“I am okay now, thank you very much,” I said as I smiled at him sincerely. I then lightly pushed his hands away which he did drop as I stand on my own.

The tingling sensation and the exaggerated bathumps of this heart of mine whenever this man is near still making me uncomfortable. I am indeed very thankful for how gentle and thoughtful he has been but he is still a dangerous person.

“Are you guys going to kill me too?” I asked as I saw the two werewolves already heading in our direction, wiping their bodies frantically as if the blood from my father made them feel dirty.

The black-haired one raised his eyebrows and answered as if my question was uncalled for.

“Nah! The alpha already gave his order to keep you safe”

‘Alpha? Is it a rank or something?’

“So you will release me right?” I asked, hopeful.

“No” the man beside me answered quite dismissively as he walked away from me and towards the other two werewolves.
