Chapter 20 - Vortex

I have the worst luck on the planet. No matter what, my car won't start. The lights flash on the panel when I turn the key, but the vehicle only coughs, and everything dies before the engine can rev to life.

"Stupid battery!" I kick at the pedal. "I knew it was a mistake to buy a French brand! The Germans make better cars, that's for damn sure!"

"Is that so?" Thail asks.

"Yes!" I exclaim and curse like a sailor. I'm frustrated and growl while holding the steering wheel. "Fucking shit!"

Thail snickers from the backseat. "You're so angry and fierce for being so little. It's adorable."

Even though Thail means no harm, I sob. "Stop laughing! It's not funny! My jacket isn't meant for chilly Autumn nights, and I'm freezing! And judging by the turn of things, we are stuck here!"

"Sorry, love," Thail immediately sounds concerned. "I didn't know you were freezing and wouldn't have laughed if I knew. How about we leave the car here and come back for it tomorrow?"

"How are we going to mak
