Patricia gave them each their orders and handed Faelon a folded piece of paper.
"It is my number if you ever want to have better company," she said softly. Faelon cocked his brow and crumpled the paper and tossed it back at her. It bounced off her chest and to the floor."Your behavior is horrendous, don't expect a tip," he growled firmly, causing the waitress to open and close her mouth like a fish gulping air. Sophia stifled her grin and unwrapped her napkin-wrapped utensils. After the waitress left them in a huff Sophia glanced over at Faelon."You should have kept that number, Patricia is well known amongst the menfolk for giving great blowjobs," she said bluntly, causing Faelon to choke on the bite of food he had taken prior. After wiping his mouth he smirked at Sophia."I wouldn't want that female's mouth anywhere near my member. She is a very ugly person," he replied uncaringly. Sophia blinked her eye at him then turned to look at the stunning redhead. Did he truly find her ugly, she wondered."Do you need eyeglasses? Patricia, although very ill-mannered, is a beautiful woman," she said softly. Faelon rolled his eyes and shook his head."You are ten times more lovely than she," Faelon told her sincerely and felt his heart start beating rapidly in the chest. Frowning from it he gazed down from the odd look the woman across from him was giving him. Sophia tilted her head and sniffed the air causing her to frown."Do you smell a burnt sulfur odor?" She asked curiously Faelon glanced around the establishment through the lattice work and saw Lucifer sitting at a table watching them both. Lucifer was invisible to the entire diner except for Lucian. Faelon eyed Sophia and found it odd that she could smell the devil. Lucifer waved his hand at Faelon indicating that he wished to speak with him. Faelon exhaled deeply, placed his fork down, and excused himself by saying he needed to use the restroom. Sophia nodded and pointed to the other side of the diner telling him they were located that way. Faelon headed toward the location and gestured to Lucifer to follow after him. Once inside the single-person room Lucifer placed his hand against Faelon's chest and frowned."Your heart is beating," he grunted."No shit, Sherlock," Faelon stated firmly. Lucifer rubbed his eyes in frustration. He looked sternly at Faelon."She is a human, you are my left hand, Faelon. Nothing can come from you putting your sites on her. You will end up hurting her since you cannot love. You should give Cora a chance. She's a lovely female and closer genetically to you than that human." Faelon scowled at the devil."Explain to me how that human can smell your presence then? I can't even do that but she smelled hell and I saw you," Faelon questioned curiously causing Lucifer to look uneasy."I want to meet this human," Lucifer said briskly and Faelon shook his head."You cannot simply appear before her, boss and if you were to meet her she will know that you carry the stench of hell," Faelon stated forcefully and Lucifer grinned."Fine, left hand. You've made a valid point. I suggest that you discover if she's saintly because if not she has been marked by a demon," Lucifer said urgently."Her name is Sophia Parks and her ex-boyfriend Vincent Mathis abused her horrifically," Faelon stated harshly. Lucifer frowned and rubbed his chin."I need to look something up, I will meet with you again, Faelon," Lucifer frowned, snapped his fingers, and disappeared. As Faelon exited the restroom a gentleman was waiting to use the facility and eyed him oddly."Just you in there chatting with yourself?" He mumbled candidly and entered the toilet. Faelon scowled as he made his way through the diner to the table he shared with Sophia. She glanced up at him with a grin."Thought you either got lost or ditched me," she said softly and Faelon shook his head."Neither as I am here," he replied and got situated in the booth. He lifted his fork and started eating once again. Thinking about what Lucifer had said he glanced across the table at the intriguing female."Are you a Godly human?" he asked, causing Sophia to close her single eye and mumble, human."Aren't we all human?" She responded incredulously and giggled strangely."As for your strange question…I was at one time in my life but after my shit-storm relationship I kinda turned my back on God and the church…why are you asking that very odd question?" She asked, eyeing him openly. Faelon curled his lip and shook his head. He had finished his meal and felt satisfied. He sat back and patted his stomach."That was good, different from what I am used to but satisfying," he said, avoiding her question. Sophia's single eye narrowed as she sighed, "right." Patricia came by with the ticket and Faelon handed the redhead his debit card. She looked at it and said, "you have a very unique name, you must be from Europe. Huh?" Faelon gave her a condescending look and told her bluntly, "nope." Sophia was listening to the exchange and once Patricia left with the payment asked him where he was from and if he was there for business or pleasure. Faelon clasped his hands together and looking straight into Sophia's one eye said, "a bit of both I am hoping.""You should have kept Patricia's number then," she replied, making him frown."I was hoping that you might want to go out with me again. Perhaps you could show me around this quaint town and all it has to offer?" Faelon suggested softly, almost groveling. It was something he was very unaccustomed to and he felt like he was failing miserably. Sophia shrugged."It is really a crappy time to come here. The winter sucks. It's a tourist trap during the summer," she said nonchalantly."Would you let me take you out?" He questioned once again and Sophia was hesitant. She looked away from Faelon's intense eyes and sighed."I don't wish to get you involved in my issues. It would be best if we just remain friendly acquaintances," she answered, causing Faelon's heart to pain him. When the waitress returned with his card he signed the receipt and put a zero for the tip."Thanks for lunch, I will treat you next time. I have to return to work," Sophia mumbled in a rush and dashed off toward the hotel entrance. He stood there with his mouth open. She had agreed to eat with him again, he thought and grinned slightly as he headed the same way she had. Faelon needed to stretch his wings so he went to his room and removed his shirt. He rotated his shoulders and his black wings unfurled in the small bedroom. He flapped them a couple of times. The downdraft they produced caused the lamp to be knocked off the stand and the pictures on the wall to fall and shatter. The bed made a loud cracking sound. He tucked his wings back and bit his lower lip at the mess he'd caused."Fuck, I am going to need a new room," he growled low and quickly got his things packed. Putting his shirt back on he lifted the phone as he pressed the star button and heard the phone ring. Sophia's pleasant voice answered."There was an incident in my room…it has been destroyed," he said softly, like a child who was going to get a spanking."I will be up in a moment," Sophia mumbled and hung up. Faelon stepped over the pieces of broken glass and stood in the middle of the room when the knock sounded at the door."Come in," he mumbled and the door opened to Sophia holding a broom and dustpan. She looked at the disaster and then at Faelon in the middle of it all."What happened?" She gasped as she dropped the broom and surveyed everything."I'm not certain, I was washing my hands and came back to this, weird huh?" He said grimly."Go down, ask Otis for another room, and tell him I will explain why in a bit," she huffed, stepping over the shattered lamp and handing Faelon his duffel bag that was on the dresser."Do you need any help?" He asked at the doorway and Sophia shook her head and waved him off. Faelon left reluctantly and Sophia walked carefully around the room. She noticed something odd and bent over to pick it up. In her fingers, she held a large black feather and more confusion filled her.Faelon was at the counter with Otis when she rushed to the desk holding the feather in her fingers."A huge fucking chicken got into the hotel and trashed our guest's room," Sophia shouted and placed the feather on the counter. Faelon's eyes widened at his obvious wing feather and he stifled the chuckle that wanted to escape."chickens! Goodness gracious, what next…dead people and now destructive chickens," Otis groaned rubbing his old eyes."Get mister Ogrith a new room dear while I check storage for more furniture," he mumbled sourly as he headed toward the back. Sophia was punching information into the computer and got another keycard."I am putting you into the largest room here. I am certain that no winged animals will be able to destroy anything in there. Room 209," she said with a grin and handed him the new card. Their fingers brushed together and Faelon felt an odd pulse go straight to his shaft. He hardened instantly and turned quickly so she wouldn't notice the bulge in his pants. As he continued up the stairs he heard Sophia say that she was keeping the feather because it must have been off one hell of a large chicken. Faelon hissed as he continued up the stairs. As he approached his new room he saw a dark shadow moving toward him. It was a reaper and it wished to converse. Please leave gems and comments. Thanks for the reads and hope your enjoying the story!
Faelon opened his new room and invited the young reaper inside who needed to speak with him. Sophia was having heart palpitations and was currently in the employee restroom splashing water on her face. She had removed her eyepatch and was frowning at her appearance. she thought about what Faelon had told her during lunch."That man is crazy…there is nothing attractive about me," she mumbled sadly and wiped away the moisture collecting in her one eye. Sophia blinked and breathed in deeply, exhaling slowly. She had taken the last of her medication and would have to go to the local pharmacy for a refill. Putting on her eyepatch she went to find Otis so she could leave her work shift early to make it to the grocery store, where the pharmacy was located before it closed. Otis was carrying a lamp as Sophia approached him."I need to take off early, Otis, to get to the pharmacy," she said softly. Otis looked at her over the lampshade."Better hurry before Travis and his side chick get there
Sophia exhaled deeply, finishing the last scoop of the snow-covered sidewalk. Wishing for an early spring she walked carefully back inside her modest home. She gently touched her swollen eye and winced as she headed to the bathroom to see how bad it was. Barely able to see her reflection in the mirror, she frowned."Perhaps I should call in tomorrow," she debated but realized that she needed the funds for bills. Sophia grabbed a bag of frozen mixed vegetables from her freezer and placed it on her swollen eye. Sitting carefully into the wooden chair she sat at her small dinette and hoped the swelling would go down. She dug in her inside pocket for the large black feather and placed it inside the lead crystal vase she got from Phil for her last birthday. She looked at it and strangely felt connected to the ebony feather."Wonderful, I get a warm fuzzy feeling off a chicken feather," she muttered to herself, shifting the frozen bag of vegetables over her swollen eye. Back at the hotel,
"Isn't Faelon a female's name?" Atlas asked Faelon after they appeared inside Sophia's sparse living room. Faelon shook his head."No, it means little wolf, and it's a male name," he answered as he followed after Sophia. Sophia entered the small bathroom and Faelon stood in the narrow hallway waiting for her to exit. "I am going to search for the spirit so don't mind me…or help me…at all," Atlas grunted in frustration as he headed toward the kitchen and started looking in the cupboards and utility closet. Faelon glanced toward the small kitchen table and saw his wing feather inside a crystal vase. He grinned slightly and pulled a few more out of his wing and placed them alongside the single one. They appeared within it as black as pitch. Atlas was watching and shaking his head and plucked out the feathers Faelon had placed in the vase making them evaporate into nothingness."No disturbing the residence. That is the number one rule. That and pets and small children can see us even whe
Atlas eyed the dark angel and was curious about what had caused him to grow more sour than usual."Who pissed in your breakfast or lunch, my compadre?" He asked bluntly. Faelon hissed and rubbed his eyes before scowling at the reaper."Some male named Phil is bringing Sophia dinner tonight. He is good for her according to the old male who owns this establishment," he complained, causing Atlas to chuckle."Then why don't we just pop in and make sure nothing nefarious is going to happen during their dinner, big guy, Eh? That sounds rather stalkerish and right up your alley," Atlas teased. Faelon watched the reaper and smiled wide enough to expose his fangs. Atlas's eyes widened in shock."You are scary…don't smile at me like that," Atlas mumbled sourly. Faelon rolled his eyes."I don't even know how to gain a woman's interest nor do I know the first thing about wooing," he sighed. Atlas shrugged and told him neither did he. Faelon asked the time and Atlas glanced at his pocket watch."I
Faelon lay on the bed and crossed his arms behind his neck as he stared up at the popcorn ceiling. Atlas glanced down at him and sighed."What are you thinking about?" Atlas questioned."I am wondering why both Phil's and mine hearts started beating around Sophia. Seems uncanny and mundane if she is already marked by the demon. What purpose would it serve? I am curious if Sophia causes all Angel hearts to start thumping," Faelon voiced his thoughts. Atlas rubbed at his chin."Should I have Rai come and see if the human stirs his heart?" Faelon chuckled as he side-eyed the reaper."Rai is already mated. It wouldn't affect him as his heart beats only for Sebastian and perhaps your birth mother," Faelon growled roughly. Atlas grinned slightly and vanished. When the reaper reappeared he was accompanied by a young twenty-something aged male."This is Serpio and he's a fledgling angel," Atlas announced proudly. Faelon sat up and shook his head."How is he going to meet Sophia…you haven't th
Randall Mathis sat nude on his leather sofa surrounded by several scantily clad females that were willing to do anything he asked for. His associate Anthony handed him his cell phone, saying Vincent was on it."Hello half-breed, have you gotten my light?" He questioned sourly and frowned at the answer he received."Listen, I only got you out of prison because you promised me to get that soul. I must have it in order to make Lucifer squirm at my feet," he growled menacingly. Randall pressed the end call button and tossed it back to the demon standing over him."The police have been bought off and our trackers have confirmed that the woman is indeed Sophia Parks," the demon said firmly."Thanks for the updates, Anthony," Randall said sullenly and rubbed at his red eyes."Get all these females out of here," he ordered and stood his naked self up."If that worthless shit of mine cannot follow through with his pledge then I will simply kill her myself," he beamed happily as his clawed fing
Faelon woke to the smell of food cooking and felt saliva collecting in his mouth. He sat up and saw Sophia in the kitchen in front of the stove with a spatula in her hand. He yawned and stretched out his back which was sore from sleeping on the uncomfortable furniture. Tossing the blanket to the side he went to the small bathroom with Sophia watching him with a raised brow. After relieving himself he washed his hands and went back out into the kitchen."Did you lower the seat?" She questioned with a condescending look. Faelon's mouth went into a straight line as he turned, headed back to the bathroom, and set the toilet seat down. When he returned a large plate of food was sitting on the small table."Sit and eat, Faelon. I have some questions for you," Sophia said stoically. Faelon watched her get a glass of water and a plate of toast before she sat across from him."How did you know where my bathroom was?" She asked curiously. Faelon looked up with a piece of bacon hanging out of hi
"What do you want, reaper?" Phil inquired roughly not seeing Sophia off to the side. His eyes widened at hearing her yelp."You are a reaper!?" She bleated out in a panic. Atlas glanced back at Sophia gripping her chest and shivering."Smooth move ex-lax," Atlas grunted and shoved past him to enter the room leaving Sophia staring at Phil. He could see the confusion and tears filling her single brown eye. Phil cursed and grabbed her arm and pulled her down the hall to his room. Once inside he closed his eyes and pulled the frightened woman into his arms to give her what comfort he could."What is going on, Phil? Why are there angels and reapers surrounding me? Am I dying?" She asked in a worrisome manner."No…I, ah I … listen, Sopha, take a seat and I will explain everything," he mumbled softly. Sophia wiped her damp eye and pulled her pill bottle out and looked at it a moment before shoving it back into her pocket. She wanted to be clear-headed about whatever Phil was going to tell he
