Chapter Sixty-four

Brenda lay on the cold, hard floor of Alfred’s basement, weak and in excruciating pain. Her body trembled with every movement, her muscles aching from the prolonged confinement. Days had turned into a haunting blur of darkness and despair, and she feared that her time was running out. The air was damp, thick with the scent of mildew and fear. As Brenda struggled to keep her spirit alive, her resolve wavered. She knew she had to stay strong, but the weight of her captivity was slowly breaking her. She couldn’t bear the thought of succumbing to Alfred’s twisted proposition, of being forced into a marriage that held no true freedom for her.
