Chapter Twenty-nine

Brenda’s heart raced as she watched Damien’s eyes narrow in on her. She knew that he had seen through her lies, and she could see the anger in his eyes. It was then that she realized how much trouble she was in, and how much she had put her family in danger. She stood before Damien, her heart pounding with fear. She had lied to him about meeting a stranger in a bar, and now she could see the anger in his eyes. She knew that he would do anything to protect his interest, even if it meant harming her own family.

“You’re lying to me, Brenda,” Damien said, his voice low and menacing. “I can see it in your eyes. Who did you meet in that bar?”

Brenda took a deep breath, knowing that she had no choice but to tell the truth. “Okay, okay, I’ll tell you everything, just let them go please.”

“Well I’m listening then.”

“His name is Alfred,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “We’ve been seeing each other ever since.”
