A backup plan

“What did you say?” Vivian found it hard to believe what Ben just told her. “Recap.”

“I said, Meera is acquainted with Greg Carl.”

“How? How did that happen? Why are you just telling me that?!”

“How was I supposed to know that she would keep such a big secret from me? She made me look like a fool in the eyes of everyone!”

“This is not right... This is absolutely not right.” Vivian started pacing in the office. Suddenly she paused and looked at Ben, “Did you see her for who she really is now? She’s never been the Meera you think you knew. The Meera you grew up with was long gone and what remained was a selfish, secretive, and ambitious woman.”

Ben frowned. He refused to believe that Meera had been playing him all these while. He thought he was on top of the game, only for her to send him falling with a heavy punch. He suddenly raised his head and looked at Vivian– she always had the best plans.

“What should we do now? What if she gets a share of inheritance from my late grandfather?”
