Pondering over the melody in my head, wanting some sort of recollection of where? When? I’d heard it. My mind drew blanks each time. I’d been in thought for so long, I didn’t notice that they both were looking to me with concern.

“What was that you hummed” I asked Tayen, I needed to know.

“It was a melody my mother used to sing to me and my brothers. When Jaela was first born, I used to sing it to her to quiet her crying. Worked every-time” she beamed at Jaela. A corner of Jaela’s mouth turned up into a slight smile.

“What’s wrong babe?” Jaela rubbed my arm soothingly

I beamed at her. “Babe huh?”

She punched my arm “shut up” she giggled “Seriously what’s on your mind” she asked, threading her fingers through mine.

“That melody, I’ve heard it before. For the life of me I cannot remember where I heard it. Was there words to the tune?” I directed the question to her mother.
