Harry was on the ground, feeling sorry for himself.

“I should have stretched before we started climbing. I’m sorry guys,” he said.

The three of us were standing over him, wondering what was next. He had sprained his ankle and couldn’t stand or move. It was unfortunate, but he had saved me from Harper and her questions. I couldn’t show it, but I was relieved. I couldn’t thank him for it either, but I was thankful.

“I guess that’s the end of our hike,” Gabriel said. He looked genuinely disappointed that it was ending so soon.

“How do we get him down there?” Harper asked.

I should have asked the question as his girlfriend to show a little bit of concern but I was too stunned to speak. Harper’s question still rang loud in my head.
