If my hunch was right, the person who had just walked away from the cafe was Tiffany. If it was her, there was only one destination in mind for her after what she had heard. I needed to stop her. I needed to follow her immediately and stop her before she made the whole thing blow up in my face.

I wasn’t doing it for Gabriel. I was doing it for myself. I would die if anyone found out what we had done. I would die if Harry found out, especially, because it would prove him right in his theory. The absurd things Gabriel had said up to that point didn’t even matter.

Only one thing mattered: stopping Tiffany. I needed to end this conversation and the only way I knew how was to admit defeat. I hated it with all of my beings but it was the only way. I had to swallow my pride. I would regret it later but at least it would be the only thing I would regret. I swallowed my pride and said the words I never thought I'd say to Gabriel.
