Chapter 41: Muffins

It’s official. My father is an idiot. – Angel

Nan handed Taz a blueberry muffin and sat down at the table with her. She knew that the woman had been out here for hours and probably didn’t get much sleep the night before. Peeling the paper off her own oversized muffin, she tried to remain casual. 

“How was the sunrise?” Nan asked. 

“Beautiful.” Taz answered quietly. “Lonely.”

“He has always loved sunrise and sunset.” Angel said as she and Mel joined them at the long glass patio table. “I sent him some pictures of them from all over Europe. The Vatican was my favorite.”

“Paris.” Mel added with her Spanish accent. The two women shared a look as they clasped hands. Angel raised their hands to her mouth and kissed the back of the darker hand.

“I’m trying to eat.” Nan teased. “You have a room upstair
