56. Witches and Werewolves?

Aubrianne held the box out at arm's length and transported it back to her room. She laid it on her bed and examined it closely.

Nothing special stood out about this box except tiny intricate patterns on the top cover, and the bottom had some words inscribed.

She looked at the writing, and though it was a foreign language and one that she had never seen before in her twenty-two years of life on this earth, she understood what it meant.

So she held it and tilted it as she read it aloud, 'otym drethgyier, e terasef, e jhuegt, e bkhry, e wierys.' Which means 'To my daughter, my flesh, my blood, my bones, my heir.'

As those words left Aubrianne's lips, the box sparked. It was like an electric shock shot through Aubrianne's body, which caused her to let go of the box. The box fell and lay flat on the bed.

The little latch on the front middle of the box started to glow a shimmering white ray of light. Then she heard a click, and the lid slowly opened.
