CHAPTER 107

ELENA

I couldn’t move.

My back was so stiff it felt like I had got steel rods inserted in it, and I was pretty sure someone put an iron ball into my head in the middle of the night.

“Here.” Aiden placed a glass of water and a couple of pills on the nightstand.

“Ow!” I stopped halfway sitting up. “My shoulders are hurting.”

“Come here.” He wrapped his arms around me gently and eases me up. “Shhh,” he whispered, putting a pillow behind my back and leaning me against it. “All right?”

“Fine,” I whispered unconvincingly. “What are these?” I took the pills and threw them into my mouth before he answered. I didn’t actually care—let’s be honest. “I guess it’s too early for vodka, huh?”

Aiden took the glass of water with a smile. “Yeah, darlin’, way too early. You want breakfast?”

“I don’t think I can get up yet.”

“Good thing I already thought ahead, huh?” He kissed me lightly then disappeared. I stared at the open door until he reappeared with a tray in his hands.

“What’s that?”

“Breakfast.”
