The Nightmare

Eulalia opened her eyes to the orange glow of the ceiling light, her foggy mind slowly filling with thoughts.

She couldn’t say no to Percival. First, she didn’t have the physical strength to resist him. Second, she was afraid of upsetting him and losing her job.

When she thought about it, she felt like she was getting by on nepotism in her career.

Eulalia pushed against Percival’s strong chest. “I don’t want to take the pill.”

Percival held her hair back, his intoxicated mind gaining a moment of clarity. “You really don’t want to have my child, huh?”

Eulalia turned her head to avoid his warm breath. “Don’t play dumb.” She’d have to be out of her mind to agree to bear a child for this awful couple. She didn’t know where Percival got the audacity to even ask her that.

Eulalia wasn’t fully recovered yet; she couldn’t possibly get pregnant now. Hearing her say it so bluntly, Percival felt like his heart was tearing apart.
