22. The Burning Night
"I’ll go to the kitchen. You can rest here," Adam said while nodding sincerely.
However, instead of moving, the woman didn't budge. She had been hypnotized by the green eyes that were only inches from her nose.
"Amber?" The man got confused watching the silence.
Unexpectedly, Amber cupped Adam’s cheeks with both hands. While closing her eyes, she took her lips to his. The man's body automatically stiffened. His eyebrows were raised to the max and his blinks were restrained. For a moment, he didn’t dare to move. His heart and logic were in a great battle.
"Should I enjoy it? I haven't had this pleasure in over two years. But I'm not a jerk who takes advantage of circumstances."
When Amber paused to take a breath, Adam quickly separated their shoulders. With stiff face, he tried to rouse the woman's senses.
"Stop it! Don't you want to do it with me? I can't help it if you keep flirting."

Hearing Miss Lim's initiative, Adam furrowed his brows. "You're not a spoiled girl anymore, apparently." "Since in the first place, I wasn't. You're the only one who judged me that way," Amber replied as she grabbed the flashlight and patted Mr. Cold's arm. "Let's hurry!" Excitedly, the woman led the way. She didn't know that Adam was staring at the traces of her touch. “That girl … does she still not know? You always make a big mess in my heart, Amber." He followed as the sigh of despair escaped his mouth. While Adam was busy shoveling the snow that blocked the barn door, Amber looked up at the star-filled sky. Her face was sad and full of longing.
