Betrayed

My heart might have broken in half. I stared at Delmira's face. She stepped back but didn't run away, as if she were waiting for something. My eyes searched for hers, but she avoided my gaze as if it burned her. I wished it could because she deserved to suffer for what she had done. The one I believed was my friend turned out to be a traitor.

None of them shifted, but a few of them had already withdrawn their swords made of black, poisonous steel. The points of their sharp blades turned toward me, but I didn't fear them.
