“Hey… is it okay if I tell Luis about some things about me?”
Elliot came to a stop and looked over at me. “About your past?” He asks.
I nod my head as I try to explain. “No, not everything, but I want to be really good friends with him and I feel like I have to open up if I want that to happen.”
“If you feel comfortable enough to tell him then that’s up to you, but you don’t need my permission about this and you honestly just need to be yourself if you want to make friends.” He said as he reached a hand out to put on my shoulders. “If you want to tell him then I’ll be proud of you because you're trying to be comfortable with yourself and share more. I know it was hard being open with me but if you take your time telling Luis or anyone else then it will work out fine for you.”

We were quiet for a while as we continued to watch the game and it ended a lot faster compared to Luis’s match. Elliot’s varsity team won the game and Luis had to leave to regroup with his teams to help clean the court. I’m still taken by surprise because he’s never been passionate like this before and there’s nothing wrong with it, but I’m still feeling cautious with every movement he makes.
