“Jade, Thad’s here to see you,” Dad informed me quietly because he must have caught onto everything so far, or he knew that I had to let him go.

I thanked him. I was not pissed off at them anymore. The past was in the past. If Douchewad’s enslavement taught me anything, then it was that life was fleeting. We could either take hold of what was precious to us or not. Either way, it might not be there one day. He had taken everything from me, but he would not take any more.

My breath hitched when I saw Thad. I missed him so much more than I missed anyone else. I thought about him constantly, daydreamed about him multiple times a day, and held fast to every memory I had of him. He was what kept me strong and got me through everything. The Dreamworld tried to destroy my memories of him, but they were not the real Thad. This was the real one. That was all that mattered.
