Birthday Surprise

Kareen had finished retelling what happened at the toy store and was waiting for Gerald to say something, but he continued to stare at her like he was hoping for more stories.

“Are you not going to say anything?” she questioned.

“What do you want me to say?” he asked, spreading his arms out. “Are you expecting me to do something that will get us in trouble?”

Kareen nibbled on her lower lips angrily. “Are you afraid of her?”

A deep sigh fell off Gerald’s lips. He got up from the couch and turned off the TV with the remote before heading inside while her burning eyes watched him.

“Where are you going to?” she asked with a trace of anger in her tone. “I don’t want to fight with you, so, I’m leaving,” Gerald replied.

He no longer cared about the level of the game he wanted to finish. His peace of mind was very important to him, and he was smart enough to know that acting right now based on his wife’s wishes would be impulsive and could land him in trouble.
