I gaped at the audacity this woman had. She caught me off guard so bad, I was speechless. Heck, even Titus was, and he always had some snarky remark ready to use.

My body felt like jelly at this point, so I clung on Titus for dear life.

The Alpha looked as dumbfounded as I felt and Lucius, well, he had a scowl on his face, but he didn’t react even as my step-mother kept blabbering nonsense. All that came out of her mouth was more lies about how great Kayla was and how lucky any man would be to have her as theirs.

At one point, I felt like I was about to pass out. My heart hammered in my chest, but I couldn’t understand if it was because of the anger I felt or if it was the shock.

Once Lucius cleared his throat, she finally shut up. The entire office became deathly silent as she looked up at my mate as if he had promised her to hang the moon.
