3. Agreement

Ullric's golden eyes stared coldly at the skyscraper in front of him. Ignoring the strange stares from the people around him, Ullric stepped forward confidently toward his destination. The man only stopped walking when the attention of the people inside the large building turned to him as he entered. His gaze was as dark as the night sky, and he was blocked before he could ascend to a higher level.

“Who are you? What business do you have with this place?”

Ullric looked at the well-dressed man who came forward to confront him. Judging from the reactions of the other werewolves when the man arrived, Ullric could tell that the man was someone with a high position in the group. Ullric stared at him for a long time, before he revealed the reason for his arrival in a low voice.

“I came for your Alpha.”

Esben, Beta of the Silver Pack couldn't control his fear when he heard the low voice of the Alpha in front of him. His Alpha is the strongest Alpha Esben has ever met. But in terms of strength, this mysterious Alpha who just came to his pack turned out to be able to match the extraordinary strength of his alpha, who is famous as one of the strongest werewolves in their country.

“I can't let you in if you can't prove that you're not a threat to this pack.”

Esben and the rest of the pack immediately took their battle stances when Ullric couldn't convince them either. The atmosphere in the place tensed up for an instant until a sudden pressure of force made them lower their heads forcefully.

Apart from their Alpha, there was no other Alpha that could force them to lower their heads. The people's faces turned pale, as they watched Ullric casually pass them to go upstairs.

But Ullric's footsteps stopped again, as he stared at the elevator next to the stairs he was originally about to climb. The man was silent without doing anything until the person he was looking for finally got out of the elevator.

After Stefan saw Ullric, the man was pensive for a moment. When Stefan got a danger signal from his beta, the Alpha immediately went downstairs to check what kind of threat had just entered his pack. But unexpectedly, the one who had just arrived was an ancient Alpha that he had met at the hunters' headquarters a few days ago. Stefan did remember that Ullric said he would remember his name. However, Stefan never expected that the Alpha would visit his house alive after attacking the hunters alone.

The fact that Ullric was able to survive was enough to prove that he was a strong Alpha. Stefan stared at Ullric, as he silently acknowledged the ancient Alpha's power that lay before him.

His attention was diverted when he heard the growls of his pack members, who still couldn't get up due to the pressure Ullric gave off. His mind cleared again, as he looked back at Ullric who was also looking at him without saying anything.

“In the first place, can you restrain your strength? My pack members could misunderstand if you suddenly suppress them like this.”

The others almost thought they were delusional when they saw that Ullric was actually willing to grant Stefan's wish. When faced with Stefan, for some reason, Ullric looked much more docile. The man probably still doesn't say much. But his gaze wasn't as cold as when Ullric had looked at the others before.

“I've come with an offer to cooperate with you, Stefan Norah Silver. Please help me track down the witch who kept me in that place. And in exchange, I swear to protect this pack from any threat.”

This time, it wasn't just the Silver Pack members who were surprised to hear Ullric's words. Even Stefan, who was usually calm, couldn't control his surprise when he heard Ullric's wish. In terms of strength alone, Stefan could tell that Ullric was a strong Alpha. That man should be a respected pack leader, not an Alpha follower like him.

“Please don't worry I will usurp your position as an Alpha. I have failed to protect my pack once and was even caught by those hunters. I no longer have the qualifications to become an Alpha, nor have any desire to return to leading a pack. However, Stefan Norah Silva, the place you attacked back then was owned by a witch who hates werewolves so much. Your attack on her base will surely make her furious. And eventually, she will definitely try to track you down and destroy this pack. After she destroys my pack, I want nothing more than her death. You help me to kill her, and I will protect this pack forever.”

Before Stefan doubted Ullric even more, the Alpha without a pack immediately explained the reason for his choice. Stefan could see that Ullric was serious about what he said. The young Alpha fell silent, before turning to look at his pack members, who looked troubled after hearing Ullric's wish.

While having a subordinate as strong as Ullric might benefit them, having a subordinate nearly equal to their Alpha strength was still not a wise choice. No one knew when Ullric might turn against Stefan. Or in a worse case, Ullric might come to them because he was eyeing Stefan's position in the first place.

But if what Ullric said was true, their pack might have a hard time dealing with a witch they didn't know about. That witch could destroy an ancient pack that was notoriously powerful. Now, there is no guarantee that their pack members will be safe, even if the Silver Pack is the strongest in their area for now.

Stefan looked at Ullric who looked serious as he looked at him, before finally making a temporary decision for his pack.

“Let me discuss this matter with the rest of my pack first, Ullric. And Esben, tell the others that I'm having a pack meeting right now.”

“Understood, Alpha!”

Thereafter, Ullric was left alone while the Silver Pack members gathered to discuss his arrival. For safety's sake, Ullric was accompanied by several young werewolves who were tasked to monitor the movements of the ancient Alpha. Neither of them took the initiative to speak, so Ullric could only spend his time waiting for Stefan to return as he continued to stand like a statue.
