As soon as Blake dashed towards a groaning Alex, my mom grabbed my arm harshly and yanked me out of the room.

I tried to pull away from her grasp but she tightened it, murmuring obscenities under her breath as she nearly broke my bones and bruised my flesh from sinking her claws into me. No matter how hard I tried to pull away, she held on tighter until she pushed me into her closet room and slammed the door shut behind us.

When I looked down at the bruises on my arm, I winced, my heart physically ripping to shreds at the fact that my own mother could inflict that kind of pain on me when she equally wasn't a saint.
