24: Fake Friends

My skin was crawling, literally!

I’d desperately hoped that Maeve would forget about the weekend plans she’d forced on me, but seeing as I’d been stuck in her irritatingly bejeweled pink Porsche for the past half hour, she didn't forget.

And what was making my skin crawl? The forced conversations and fake giggles I’d been forced to tolerate up until we pulled up at the venue.

Granted, it was a luxurious and private venue that I’d have never been opportune to step foot in if Maeve hadn't extended an invite, but I’d prefer to be restricted to average fast food joints that my purchasing power could afford rather than be stuck with her.

But it was too late for those preferences to save me, Maeve was already making introductions as we reached her ‘friends’.

“Hey girls!” she flashed her signature fake grin at the bunch of overdressed yet scantily clad ladies whose attention had turned to us.

Instead of responding, they all seemed to do a full body sweep of what Maeve was wearing
