The pack was abuzz with the news that I was taking over as alpha. Dad had sent out a pack announcement a few hours ago, and I already had an exhausting number of people congratulating me down the mind-link, making it very hard to concentrate on the alpha duties I had in front of me.

I understood being the alpha would come with distractions, and I honestly didn’t mind them, especially if they came from my challenging but perfect mate. She had almost distracted me from my duties earlier when I felt her desire through our bond. But it had been silent ever since. I frowned. She hadn’t contacted me when she heard the news. I wondered if Lupus’ patrons were giving her a hard time.

I reached down the mate bond and was surprised to feel she was closer than the bar. I quickly finished my job and pushed myself out from behind my desk. I left the office and went straight to her house. I found her sitting on the window seat in her room, enjoying the afternoon sun.

“Everything okay?” I ask
