Chapter 55: Her Mind

I sat in the back seat of the sleek black car, lost in my thoughts. The leather upholstery felt cool against my skin as I stared out the tinted windows, watching the world pass by in a blur. Two guards flanked me on either side, their expressions vigilant, as if expecting me to make a run for it at any moment. Little did they know, I had no intention of escaping.

My mind drifted to Nonna, my beloved grandmother who had raised me with unconditional love and guidance. Memories of her warm smile and comforting embrace flooded my thoughts, reminding me of the strength she instilled in me. I wondered how she was doing, if she had managed to find solace in her later years. Nonna had always been the rock of our family, and the thought of her facing any hardship without me by her side made a pang of guilt tug at my heart.
