87. The next morning

[Xavier’s POV]

The next morning, I mumbled something inaudible as the rays from the sun hit my eyes. My lashes fluttered and I opened my eyes to a new day and yawned tiredly, rubbing my eyes with a blank expression to make out why I was in bed by that time when the sun was already fully out, and wondered if Layla was feeling better now.

My arm felt stiff and I rolled over to the side to see her still sleeping with her head on my arm as she curled up to a ball. A smile crept up to my face and I made to remove the hair which was covering her face.

Wait a minute! Layla’s hair wasn’t black. It was golden blonde, and it was straight, not wavy. The only person who matched the person lying next to me was... was... Oh no!

I blinked my eyes rapidly and looked around the room. This wasn’t any room in the Palace. The pictures on the wall were different, same as the paintings, the curtains... everything, virtually everything.

“This is a dream,” I muttered to myself. “This can’t be true,” I said,
