KIRA

“Is your mate always so spiteful?” Kira demanded Taron. “And I am done,” she added to the woman who was waiting by her. The woman hurried forward and cleared the plate for Kira, and disappeared behind a door.

“I think she is insecure,” Taron sighed heavily. “I have always paid attention to her, and only her. But now you are here, and you are more important!”

“I am more important than your mate?” Kira asked with shocked expression. “You do understand the meaning of mate? Right?” she mocked.

“I think I know more about mates than you do,” Taron grinned.

“So, mate is your wife or husband?” Kira asked.

“We don’t marry per se,” Taron informed, “some of us do ‘marry’ to celebrate and cherish, but most of our kind don’t. A wolf has only one mate, one and only…”

“And you are loyal to your mate, even if you don’t marry,” Kira enquired.

"As if married people are always faithful," Taron rolled his eyes.
