The following day, Cassandra went to work early just to avoid such lateness like the previous day. As soon as she walked into the building, all her workers rushed to their seats of work and they all avoided her gaze because none of them wanted to get fired.
Cassandra got out of the elevator and walked down the hallway that leads to her office. As she got closer, she saw some women sitting comfortably on a sofa kept for visitors. She ignored them and walked into her office which was not far away from where they sat.
As soon as she got seated, her secretary walked into her office with her hand filled with files.
"Ma'am" she let out, her eyes fixed on Cassandra who placed her bag comfortably on her bag rack. She turned her attention to the brunette wondering what she had to say.
"Any problem Jasmine?" Cassandra asked, her fingers locked together as she stared at the lady before her.
"There isn't a problem Ma, I just came here to deliver these files to you and to inform you that the ladies for the post of the PA are waiting patiently" she responded.
"Do you mean the ladies outside my office?" Cassandra asked and Jasmine nodded and quickly backed it up with words.
"Yes Ma'am, they are the ones that came here to apply for the post" she said.
Cassandra didn't say a word, she glanced at a wall clock which was a few feet away from where she sat and realized that it was just two minutes past 9 am. There is still time for her to have to herself until the interview commences by 10 am but Cassandra doesn't have the time and she requires that whomever she employs must start the job with immediate effect, she doesn't have much time to play games.
"How many are they already?" She asked Jasmine.
"Seven Ma'am," Jasmine replied.
"That's a lot already," Cassandra noted and glanced at the wall clock,"Tell them to come in one after the other, the interview will kick off now" Cassabdra revealed to the amazement of Jasmine who stared at her in disbelief.
"Do you mean right now Ma?" Jasmine asked, looking confused.
Pissed by her question, Cassandra looked up at her with a displeased look, "What is that question supposed to mean?" She asked in a harsh tone.
Jasmine gulped down hard with regret written boldly on her face, "I am very sorry about that Ma. I will let them in just as you have stated" she said with a fast beating heart.
Cassandra ignored her, "Place the files on my table and don't allow any more candidates for the interview, the seven women present is all that I need" she notified her secretary.
"Okay Ma'am" Jasmine replied and got out of the office.
Instantly, the interview kicked off, with her butt glued to her seat, Cassandra asked each one of them certain straight out questions that were easy for any experienced PA to answer but to Cassandra's disappointment, non of them matched the qualities she is searching for, it was like the more she interviewed them, the more dumb they look to her. Most of them could hardly speak boldly to her and the rest who were able to do so didn't have the right answers to some of her questions and Cassandra hated it to the core. This isn't what she was expecting, it was like she got what she didn't order and the annoyance in her grew slowly.
With her eyes fixed on the last woman before her, the red head looked so timid, she had braces on her teeth and a pair of glasses. Her timidness alone was getting deep into Cassandra's nerves and she could not have it anymore.
"You can leave now, my company will get back to you through your email if we need you" She said bluntly to the red head who quickly got up and walked out of the office with eyes filled with tears.
With a heavy sigh, Cassandra rested her head on her seat, closed her eyes and rubbed them with her fingers with thought going through her mind. She just can't understand what just happened, no way! She can't believe this, she needs a PA today and getting to wait for the perfect PA till whenever she comes is making her boil inwardly.
With an overflow of emotion, she rang Jasmine who quickly walked into the office.
"You called me Ma'am," Jasmine let out.
"I know that I did so!" Cassandra spat out and ready to transfer her aggression to Jasmine, "I told you that I need a PA, and not just any PA but a good and smart one just like my previous ones but instead, you allowed a bunch of buffoons to come in here and waste my time!" She said with anger.
Jasmine shoke in fear, she looked down to the ground feeling very sorry, "I am very sorry about that Ma'am, I have no idea that they are incapable of the job".
"Well now you know!" Cassandra fired back with flickering eyes, her gaze very confused. "Now, what can I do?" She inquired and continued with her words,"I don't have time to carry on another interview tomorrow and I need a PA who can resume work today, where can I get this person Jasmine?" She asked, still pissed.
Still in fear, Jasmine looked up at her boss, "One more candidate came when the interview with the rest was going on" she said.
Cassandra looked up with a ray of hope, "Around what time did Jasmine come?" She implored.
Jasmine glared at her boss,"By 9:30 am Ma'am" she replied.
Cassandra's head began to whirl, with thoughts, well, it isn't this candidate's fault that she is late. The program was programmed to begin by 10 am but she started much earlier.
With a sigh, she looked at her Secretary, "I don't want to waste any time on another person, do you think this lady is qualified for this job?" She implored, her gaze not leaving Jasmine.
Jasmine gulped down hard, "It isn't a lady Ma'am but a young man" she said to the shock of Cassandra who stared at her very astonished.
Jasmine quickly got on her knees with eyes filled with tears, "I am very sorry Ma'am. When I wrote the announcement, I forgot to mention that it is meant for women only until I saw him and he stated that he is here for the job. I told him that this job is meant for females only but he insisted that it wasn't emphasized and when I looked, he was right. I told him that he is late and you have gotten the amount of candidates but he still insisted that he is the right man for this job and he refused to leave until he gets interviewed" Jasmine narrated to the shocked Cassandra who couldn't believe her ears.
"You let a man come into this institution to apply for such a position when you know clearly that it is only women that have been in this position for years," Cassandra said to Jasmine, not hiding her disappointment.Jasmine, who feared that she would eat fire, was at the edge of leaving out tears, "I'm very sorry Ma, it just slipped off my mind" she begged feeling very downcast as she wondered what her fate might be.Not knowing what to say, Cassandra rested her head on her chair, her gaze fixed on the ceiling. Right now, she is at an immediate meeting, a man has never applied for this position before and she hopes that this man fails the interview so that she can find a way of letting him out of the company. She looked down at Jasmine who was still at her knees beggi
Cassandra still couldn't believe that she employed a man into such a job. Well, right now isn't a time for her to think about anything else but to test his skill, if she should notice any bad character in him, she won't think twice but fire him with immediate effect. The next day, she got to work, as she walked into her company, Dennis walked towards her, his hands filled with files but Cassandra didn't look at him, her pace still fixed on her destination."Ma'am, the LAX company sent an email through the company's mail box" he said walking very fast as he didn't want to be left behind, they both got into the elevator and Cassandra stood still, not a friendly look could be seen on her face."What do they need?" She asked. Dennis quickly pressed the fifth fl
Feeling dejected, Dennis walked back into his office, he sat on his chair, let out a sigh and buried his head in his hands.Moving into California has been a rollercoaster for him but getting employed into the most successful company in the United States is a goal he is so delighted that he achieved. Dennis has heard so many things about Cassadra, her toughness and inability to withstand laziness from any of her workers and indeed the rumors are true.Right now, all he hope on is to get the best out of his job and be able to provide money every month to pay his rent and other expenses. His parents lived back in New York and living far away from Them is something he is thrilled to experience.Being a young man of twenty five, Dennis could say that his life h
The day rolled by fast and soon, it was the end of work time. Dennis quickly followed Cassandra to her car and watched her chauffeur drive her into the busy road. With a sigh of relief that the day's torment had ended, Dennis still couldn't believe that this was just his first day at work and it felt like he had worked there for years. He walked towards his car, got in and drove home ready for what tomorrow night brought. All he wishes for is that the meeting should go to Cassandra's favor just to avoid more cussing from her, he just can't put up with her character because his experience today has shown him how the rest of his days working here will be.Cassandra got home very worried, she has no idea why she scheduled for a meeting tomorrow when she ha
Cassandra sat at the edge of her Sofa, her eyes fixed on the TV set close to her but her mind was filled with the thoughts of Dennis. The young man's confidence is dating enough for her, deep inside her, she hopes that he comes out with a solution because right now, she needs someone's help but she doesn't know how to bring herself so low to admit that. With her gaze glued on the TV, she took a sip from the glass cup, her left foot tap slowly on the ground beneath her.Suddenly, her phone rang bringing her back to reality, she glanced at her side, picked up the phone and was surprised to know that it is no one else but Dennis calling. She felt her heart leap a beat and she wondered why, right now, all she wants to hear
The rest of the day went by so quickly and the next day, Dennis found himself driving to the airport along with Cassandra who sat next to him dressed in a luxurious purple gown and sunglasses covering her eyes."It's just an hour flight and we will be there in no time" Cassandra let out and glanced at her wristwatch."How many more minutes do we have left to get to the airport?" She asked her chauffeur."Five minutes Ma'am" the older man replied, his eyes fixed on the road.Dennis didn't say a word but held onto Cassandra's hand bag. He inhaled deeply, the nice scent of Cassandra held his nostril and he tried so hard not to let it be obvious that he was thrilled by her scent.
Dennis sat inside the car with his eyes fixed on his phone. He glanced at his wristwatch realizing that twenty minutes had passed and Cassandra is yet to be seen.He sat still not knowing what to do as he wonders if she is really busy and the thought of him going in to meet her might spark her anger and right now, Dennis doesn't want any of that.He inhaled deeply, looked up at the car ceiling and down to his phone. He doesn't know why he feels so tense and the picture of Cassandra keeps playing in his mind. He feels like he has been hypnotized by her or maybe because of the nature of his job, he has to consider himself to be close to her at any minute. Not knowing what else to do, Dennis waited patiently for Cassandra, he glanced at the entrance of the sop
Cassandra slowly woke up, her eyes fixed to the ceiling as the whole room was silent to her dismay. She scanned around and wondered how she got in here, all she can remember is her throwing up at the party restroom so everything around her is so strange.Quickly, she sat up and noticed that the blanket was lauded over her. Still confused, she looked down and realized that she was still putting on her dress from last night but her shoes were off her feet."Who laid me here?" She asked herself with flickering eyes which scanned the room nonstop. She quickly ransacked the bed but couldn't find her phone. Worried, she got up from the bed, searched the nearby drawers but still, there was no sign of her phone. Quickly, her eyes glanced at the purse she took to the party, Cassandra quickly walked towards it, opened it and saw he
