The hallway was silent, as I walked down, aimlessly. I gripped my sweatpants tightly, in a bid not to lose it. The meeting with Mr Philip earlier on had done nothing but annoy me. But after my warning, I was sure he'd steer clear of Elise and her friend's path.

I could tell someone was behind the decision. Someone was pulling the strings behind the scene, and whoever it was, would have I and the others to face.

Elise wouldn't be hurt the second time. Not under our watch.

Mr Philip's earlier words rung in my head. He was right. We had less than a year to leave the correctional center, while Elise had four years more to return.

I felt a bitter taste at the back of my throat, and swallowed quickly. That familiar urge to punch someone threatened to surface.

No... I definitely wasn't going to allow that happen. She was under our watch, and protection. I would have failed as an Alpha if I failed to protect the lady I coveted.
