Evangeline had created a timeline in her mind. After an hour of uninterrupted music, she would lean the violin and stretch her legs.

She played with her eyes closed, so she wouldn’t be intimidated by all those masculine looks. Between one song and another, she takes the cue to look around and inspect the guests. No woman. Aside from her and the receptionist, there was no woman among the guests.

Intriguing, she thought. But she didn’t let it kill her. She finished the first hour masterfully and stood up to reverence the applause received.

"Can I get a sparkling water, please?" Evie asks the man at the bar. "Thank you.”

While waiting, Evie moves her legs that were slightly numb. Even being in the corner of the bar, away from almost everyone, she could not stop feeling watched. She couldn’t even understand that feeling, since there was no one looking in her direction.
