A Sneak Attack

Brooklyn's POV:

After I agreed to Devin's proposal, he happily put on the ring, and dragged me to Aaron to show him his sincerity and determination. Aaron was about to leave the house when he and Abbey were at a loss for words when they heard the news.

After a long pause, Abbey took me aside, and wanted to talk with me alone. I presumably knew what she was trying to say, and it was nothing more than "Are you sure?" or "Are you really into Devin?".

So I took the initiative to be honest with myself before she spoke, telling her that I didn't have that deep feeling for Devin. However, I wanted to regain my strength, and he promised to help me by marrying me.

Abbey looked at me in astonishment. Her eyes were full of surprise. She didn't expect that the children she raised would one day learn to take advantage of others.

"I want you to be happy, Brooklyn." In the end, that's all she said.

Could I be happy? I did not know either.
